Honoring a Loyal Son Of Poland

Boleslaw Budzyn was a professional engineer, who served Polonia for half a century. He was a humble and noble man dedicated to social work.

After World War II, Mr. Budzyn helped to found a technical school, "Bratniak", in Erlinger, Germany. After immigrating to the United States and settling in Passaic, he was a cofounder of the Polish Youth Organization, the Polish Choir Aria, and he was the president of the Alumni of the Polish Technical School of Higher Education.

He was instrumental in reviving the dormant Adam Mickiewicz Saturday School of children of Polish Americans where he taught the Polish language and history for many yours. He initiated the formation of a Boy Schouts Troop in Wallington and was a cofounder of the Morskie Oko Resort Lake in Jefferson Township. He was an active member of the Polish American Congress in New Jersey and also organized popular trips, which entailed a trek to the slopes of Vermont followed by nights of Polish poetry, food and dancing. Mr. Budzyn orgenized demonstrations against the Polish Communist government and coordinated fundraisers in the Polish Community.

Mr. Budzyn contributed articles to the Polish Journal and was honored by the Polish Government for his service to Poland and the Polish Community with the highest civilian medal: Krzyz Kawalerski Odrodzenia Polski.



He was the enduring spirit of the Cracovia Polish Home in Wallington, and a long time member of its Board of Directors. He is a local legent in Passaic, Bergen, and Morris Counties.

Mr. Budzyn left us on June 26, 2000, at the age of 79, but he and his achievements will remain in Polonia's memory forever.

In appreciation for his dedication and long time magnificent service for the Cracovia Polish Home and the Polish Community, the Cracovia Scholarship Foundation has been named after him.
